RSA Workforce Taskforce

In 2023, we launched the RSA Workforce Taskforce, which has 40+ RSA members from across Australia and New Zealand with the key goal of supporting a more sustainable, relevant and standardised renal workforce in Australia and New Zealand.

Volunteers have been split into three subgroups;

  • Leadership
  • Education, credentialling and training
  • Staff: patient ratios and models of care

In 2024, our working groups have created and recommended resources and training for use across the renal workplaces; and the board will also use relevant output to develop advocacy priorities as per the strategic plan.

Key actions commenced in 2024 and will continue through 2025 include:

  • Education, mentoring, and training for emerging leaders.
  • Developing competency tools for standardised training resources.
  • Prioritising a tool to measure patient acuity for future work on staff-patient ratios and care models.
  • Virtual meetings held by members across Australia and New Zealand.
  • RSA Conference 2025: learning lab on launching RSA Position Statement on Measuring Dialysis Patient Acuity for Patient & Staff Safety as well as and an update on our Leadership and Mentor Program following the launch in March 2025.
  • RSA members can contribute to future taskforce plans.

Our RSA Mentor Match program, an exclusive member benefit reflects our commitment to our members and their professional development. This unique online networking and career development tool, facilitates the establishment of mentoring program, matching mentors with mentees and research tools to connect and develop relationship with another RSA member. This six-month program is designed for mentors and mentees, and for all RSA members at varied stages of their professional career.
